My Itinerary

Dec 5 - Jan 20: Mammoth Lakes, CA - My friends Dave and Janet Titus have been kind enough to open their home to me for over a month as I practice snowboarding on nearby Mammoth Mountain.

Jan 25 - Mar 9: Thailand and Cambodia - I spent a couple weeks in Bangkok where I studied Thai Massage. Then I went down to the island of Koh Phangan for a Full moon party, and the island of Koh Tao for Scuba Diving lessons. My visa expired, so I shot over to Cambodia for a week to see Phnomh Penh and Angkor Wat.

Mar 10 - Apr 19: Nepal - After a brief illegal stay in Bangladesh, I flew to Nepal where I visited Katmandu and hiked in the Himalayas.

Apr 20 - May 25: India - On that fine day of 4/20, I walked over the border from Nepal to India and caught the train up to Darjeeling. I made sort of a smiley-faced shape as I trained my way across the country through: Darjeeling, Calcutta, Varanassi, Agra, Delhi, Dharmsala, and finally, Amritsar.

May 26- June 16: Pakistan - From Amritsar, I walked across the border to Lahore, Pakistan, and boarded a bus up to Islamabad. From there, I took various busses up into Kashmir where I took several day hikes up into the mountains. Eventually I wound up back in Lahore where I spent a two days being a typical tourist (seeing museums, mosques, etc.).

June 17 - 18: Bangladesh - I returned to Bangladesh, this time with a proper visa, for two more days.

June 19 - July 2: Bangkok - Two more weeks in Bangkok, this time I attended a 10-day meditation workshop.

July 3 - July 15: Malaysia - First I checked out the unusual architecture and great shopping of Kuala Lumpur. Then I flew out to the Perhenitian islands for some SCUBA diving and relaxation.

July 15- Oct 10: USA - I came home for Steve's wedding and then took a road trip around the US visiting friends and great wilderness with my trusty Honda Del Sol.

Oct 12 - Dec 5: Australia - I traveled up the east coast from Sydney through Harvey Bay, Airlie Beach, Magnetic Island and Cairns, joining European tourists in their nearly constant partying. I also ventured into the outback a bit.

Dec 5 - Jan 5: Hong Kong, Thailand- I spent a few days exploring the most densely populated city on earth, and visiting with my cousin David who works there. Then I flew down to Thailand to spend Christmas with my brother on the beaches of Khao Lak.

Jan 5 - May 3: Africa - I flew into Cape Town, and traveled more-or-less overland up to Cairo, with stops in Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Kenya, Ethiopia and Yemen. Africa changed me.

May 3 - Aug 30: Europe - From Cairo, I flew into Athens, then across to Barcelona. From Barcelona, I activated my Eurail pass and bounced around the continent, stopping in Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, France and England. Finally, on the morning of August 28, in London's Heathrow Airport, I boarded a plane for San Francisco, closing this chapter of my life.
